I don't know, I used to give bouquets of them to my Mom when I was little all the time and she would put them a glass with some water, she loved them and that was enough for me!!

Because dandelions are a part of the weeds. They grow from the weeds themselves. Kind of like flowers growing on a tree. Don't get me wrong though, I still like dandelions!

Yes, I think that dandelions are very beautiful and their leaves are edible in salads. They are also useful as diuretics, if one has problems in that area. The convolvulus, another weed, is also beautiful and in some forms is cultivated as an exotic flower. The problem with dandelions is that they are invasive and that once they flower and produce parachute spores they get everywhere and choke other plants. If they didn't have this annoying habit, we would probably cultivate them as border plants and possibly grow them for salad. (I have bought dandelion salad in Switzerland, where it is highly prized.)

No, my nan explained to me when I was very small that even pretty flowers when growing out of control and smothering other plants earned the term weeds, unfortunately the lovely little lionhead as we called them fit into that category. I always loved them to pieces, but have you ever tried digging them out of the lawn? Still I had the compensation of planting an onion bulb and being amazed at the flowers when it blossomed, which is quite a nice thing to know - I think?
