Is it possible for a parent to voluntarily put his/her child on probation for truantcies?

Voluntary placing a child for probation is proper if there is a valid ground.

No. Only judges can place a person on probation. In the probation department I used to work in, most truant juveniles were placed in a diversion program first; if that didn't work, then they ended up back in court and were possibly placed on probation.

In some cases, social services can get involved with a child who is chronically truant.

Most states thats automatic; when a certain level of truancies are met and in others you are only allowed up to so many missed days until they ask you too repeat the grade. The buck usually stops when the school opens a child services petition against the parents.
