I have the stats with plea baragining. It varies, but generally its 1/4 to 1/3 that plea are guilty. But i need the stats for how many are innocent that dont plea guilty. Btw, if you dont know what plea is, its where you agree to either say you did the crime, avioding court, and you get a couple years off (up to) or you tstify against someone else. Usually they did the crime with you.

All the help is appreciated.

"1/4 to 1/3 that plea are guilty"? I would suggest that your information cannot possibly be accurate in the U.S. What country are you talking about? In the U.S., it does occasionally happen that an innocent person pleas or is convicted, but it is definitely not such a large number.

It's impossible, by it's very nature, to answer that question.

But here's some numbers to think about.

In the last ten years, the Innocence Project has obtained reversals of 208 convictions by means of DNA testing. That's 208 people who were convicted "beyond reasonable doubt" in a court of law, but who have been proven by DNA evidence to be innocent.

The Innocence Project lawyers ONLY take crimes such as rape and murder. At a rough estimate, DNA is available to prove or disprove guilt in "about" 5% of rape and murder cases.

So if, out of that 5% of cases, 208 people in ten years have been wrongfully acquitted, a simple extrapolation would suggest that about 20 times that number of people, or about 4,000 people, or 400 a year, are wrongfully convicted of rape or murder.

That is a TINY percentage of such convictions - unless, of course, you happen to be one of the 4000.

Its a loaded question. What you should ask is... how many people plead non-contest or plead to a lessor charge cause they can not afford legal counsel, even though they know their innocent. Though the law says were innocent till proven guilty but the charge stays on your record until exspounged.

All of them, just ask them.

The answer is that your figures come from advocates that are not trustworthy.

1/4 to 1/3 don't believe that they are guilty, that doesn't make them innocent.

I work as a corrections officer, and I just asked my inmates this question and all but one guy claimed to be innocent.
