that the chairs in the lounges of most automobile dealerships are very uncomfortable? Is it so that when we are waiting for our car to be serviced, we will be uncomfortable and roam the new car showroom and maybe see something we can't live without? I can't believe they are just too stingy to make a comfortable lounge for their customers. Any other ideas?

Wait a minute! You mean your service place has chairs in it? I have to stand in the alley while mine is being serviced in a garage of some home owner! I will ask that a lounge be installed the next time I am there. Or maybe a left over car seat that didn't fit back in..... Goldwing

We have no problems with our dealership but then like someone else said..ours is Ford too. We have had cars through other dealerships that have been terrible and very uncomfy. Considering most dealerships in UK deal with Motability customers as well as regular customers some of their seating areas are extremely uncomfortable with chairs that are too low for disabled customers to be able to sit down. Talk to the manager of the dealership and tell them that their seating areas are uncomfortable and see if they sort something out.

How true! You may notice some restaurants are like that, the chairs are comfortable just long enough for you to finish eating, then you get restless in them and ready to leave, so the next customer can have your seat. They don't want you to be so comfortable that you hang around, they want you out of there! Lounges are different, they want you so comforable that you will stay for the whole eveing and buy more drinks!

I do think that somewhere there must be design engineers who deliberately make uncomfortable chairs!

My Ford Dealer actual has a lounge area with nice chairs. But, when I take my Dodge in to be serviced, it is totally opposite. Yes, it makes us get up and roam around. That is probably their point.

"Any other ideas?"

Yes....other than my annual inspection, I do not have to cope with any dealership and will go to any lengths to avoid them.
I'm very lucky and am able to drop my car off and walk home. When they are finished, I walk back and drive my car home.
It is a Ole' Fashioned Privately Owned Garage....something I look for no matter what service I am in need of!!

I live in the North Country (NY) where the car dealers are so sleazy and I mean sleazy and money hungry --desperate.
90% of our adverts on local tv is -- you guessed it....crappy car dealers. Need I say more!!! :(((

That's why most car delerships have a FREE shuttle service to take you back to your home (or any other address) while they repair your vehicle & pick you up again when they are finished with it! It's a well kept secret, for some unknown reason. So, next time, have the shuttle driver take you somewhere & avoid having to sit in those seats & deal with the stress!

I've noticed that also, I take a book to occupy my time & sit & fidget. Usually the TV is on with the volume up too high & the place is strewn with half empty coffee cups. I guess once you've bought the car you don't matter anymore.

They are comfortable here too. Color tv and free coffee and soda and even popcorn. Was a pleasant wait the last few times we had the car serviced.
