If someone were to be raped, they'd hold the rapist accountable for their actions.

What if the victim of rape was behind bars? Would your opinion differ?

How did this question pop into my mind?

Well, honestly, I've been writing a few people in jail. Good people that deserve to be treated right that are going to be in jail for years.

They're not protected against rape. I was going over ABC.com and found "stop prison rapes" and it gets me pretty concerned.

Good people go in there and leave with even more problems.

You can't assume that all the people in jail are rapists and murderers (not that I think rape in any case is okay).

Some of them just messed up.

Without a doubt they should be protected.
The reason why they are in jail is for them to be rehabilitated and not to be abused !
It is also an abuse of trust if prison guards commit the rape.
In the UK rape calls for 7 years to life (sentence).
I would personally per sue it as aggravated rape... using the prison as a means to secure, to ease, the commission pf the crime.
I take my hat to " Roy 4 John 4ever " for saying :
"...But yes, it is wrong, which is why it is good that we leave decisions on making laws in this country to those with more objectivity "

Yes. Prisoners should be protected against rape.

But I have to concur, that my feelings are that both child molesters and rapists should be raped themselves. I know that is wrong, and that two wrongs do not make a right, but I can not help the way I feel. After all, someone like Ian Huntley deserves to suffer for the rest of his life (IMHO).
If Abu Hamza and his terrorist ilk also experienced the forced 'pleasures' of Man Love, it would bring a smile to my face.
Other than that, my feelings are that other prisoners whould be protected from rape, and if it happens, charges should be pressed.

But yes, it is wrong, which is why it is good that we leave decisions on making laws in this country to those with more objectivity. And all who rape in prison should be charged. While prison should quite rightly be a place of punishment, and should not be a nice place to be, it is also important that prisoners are rehabilitated so that they do not reoffend. Banging them up if they do reoffend is of limited use to the victim of the crime they took part in (as it is best if the crime never took place in the first instance).

The guilty in prison rape cases policemen and wardens.
Rape is offence and attrocity. The prisoner are in jail in accrdance with law. The law does not permit offenders or any person can be raped.

The right thing to say would be yes they should be protected although if I were the victim of the rapist I wouldn't care and say no..

It depends what they'd done really...
If they'd raped somebody else... or murdered somebody? Then yes.
But then again, there are so many mistakes that yuu never know if the person actually did the crime they're in jail for, so they may NOT have raped somebody, etc, and therefore don't deserve to be raped in jail.
So, basically, yes, they should be protected.

Opinion wouldn't differ whatsoever. Rapists, whether behind bars or not, deserve to be punished. And victims can NOT be ignored just because of where they are/what they've done. They're still victims and should be treated as such.

Yes they should, and its a shame our country continues to ingnore this issue. There are many prisoners who go to jail, get raped, contract hiv and then are released and spread the virus to women they sleep with. You wouldnt believe how many ex convicts are responsible new hiv cases, which is caused by unprotected sex in prison. This is an issue we simple cant ignore.

They should be protected except for child molesters, let them get a taste of their own medicine, Prisoners leave prison as worst individuals before they went in then they come out to nothing and crime is the only way to survive. An endless cycle. They don't have a chance.

I think they should be protected, yes,...on the other hand though, people who rape little children (or really, anyone for that matter) I have no sympathy for..not to say that they SHOULD be raped, but that if they did I wouldnt bat an eye...I have been a victim of a similar crime.
