Yes. Many of the current members of the Commonwealth during the post colonial era.

Also of note, Slovakia gained its "freedom" in October 1938 when Britain, France and Germany all agreed to make the Czech territories of Bohemia and Moravia part of Germany proper and created a newly formed Slovak state headed by a friendly pro-German government. Not a shot was fired by a very competent Czechoslovak army.

Most of the British Commonwealth countries won their independence politically. There were hostilities in some, like Kenya, but most got their independence as a result of the rise of nationalism in the 1950s. The French by contrast fought to maintain control in Algeria and Vietnam.

If there had been, some fascist, power-hungry country would have come along and taken it away from them.

It's a pity really, that we can't all just get along with each other and allow people to have their civil rights.

True that Ghandi won with peaceful means but look what happened afterwards, the bloodshed., seperated families.........so ,no ..i guess nothing is won without pain.
