I'll have to answer this with a question.
How many Hollywood celebrities / DNC supporters have you seen make special trips to hang with Mr Chavez?
That speaks volumes.

hillary clinton and ted kennedy do, but not everyone in the democratic party agrees with this position, the official story is that they do not support him however it depends on what specific thing about chavez's policies you are looking at, they do share some of the socialist ideas in regards to health care and economic theories as well

No. But you still have to deal with Chavez, and others like him from other countries (e.g., the Sudan, Iran). For diplomacy to work, communication needs to be sustained.

You mean does the Democratic Party respect lawfully elected leaders of other countries? DEMOCRATICALLY elected leaders of other, SOVEREIGN NATIONS?
The question should be, why don't REPUBLICANS, who claim to love democracy so much?

Nancy Pelosi -- not my favorite person -- but she did verbally thrash Chavez when he went on the tirade about Bush being the devil.

A lot of them do. The farther to the left, the better. Chavez is a communist dictator, and that's the ultimate goal of the far left.
