So, starting about a month ago my DSL connection started disconnecting every 15 minutes for about a minute and a half. It got really annoying so i contacted the company (frontier) and they told me my modem was fine and i was craze. I bought all new cables and that did not help. It confuses me because i have my pc hooked right into the modem and that is hooked right into the DSL/Phone jack. This problem gets really annoying when trying to play games online. Every 15 minutes or so it disconnects from the seerver. AND GET THIS. THE PROCESS IS COMPLETELY RANDOM. sometimes it happens 2 minutes later, and sometimes i have had 3 or 4 hours of good browsing before it shuts off. ALL HELP IS APPRECIATED.

why dont you try a phone filter. I had the same problem and that really helped out. You also have to replace the filter every 6 months. Just go to circuit city or a target and ask for a phone filter for your dsl. They'll know what your talking about.

Well I'm not sure if this is the same problem you have, but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't something similar. Recently I discovered that my ISP (Qwest w/ MSN Package) keeps track of every connection I make. If a connection exceeds 25MB of data transfer (sending) , they forcibly terminate that connection by sending a FIN flag. Usually this happens when I'm uploading a large file to my office -- every 25 MB the connection dies and I have to restart/resume. I wouldn't be surprised that you are sending massive amounts of data (25 MB in 15 minutes is about 1.6 MB a minute which is totally possible) and then they kill your connection. It really sucks and it's annoying. I think it was implemented to interfere with people using peer to peer applications like Limewire and Bittorent.

Make your DSL service replace the modem - sometimes you have to really pester them. Most service providers give out cheap equipment and over the course of a couple years you are paying for them 2-3 times over. You can take matters into your own hands and purchase your own modem. That way you have the modem manufacturer tech support to help you out when there are problems and they are much more concientious about their products than a internet service provide would be. Any of the major brands are fine (LinkSys, Netgear, DLink, etc)

Hello dear, I have never faced this problem before, but I have some things going to tell you, may help:
May be the problem not in your modem or cables may be its in your PC, so:

1- If this problem new, try to restore your PC to an early point(lets say 3 days before the date of problem) to do so go to: start:accessories:system tools:system restore.

2- Restore your Internet explorer settings to default, by opening Internet explorer then click on:tools:Internet options:advanced:restore defaults.

3- Uninstall your LAN card driver and reinstall it again.
I assumed that you are Windows XP user.

Hope that helps you, my regards.

Because it's random it's probably a hardware problem, maybe your network card is damaged. Or it could be a software problem, like a bad firewall that crashes the connection (like Panda Internet Security).
