Most stereo shops are going to charge between 50-65 to install a receiver of any sort that you didn't buy from them. So why not just go down to Best Buy and spend a lil more money and buy a Kenwood CD player that has a USB port for $128.00 and they will install it for free. You can then play your MP3 player through the USB port and have far superior sound over what you will get with a cassette tape adapter. The Kenwood CD player also will play numerous CD formats and sounds great.

Why do you want a tape deck? If you still listen to tapes then that's a different story. It shouldn't cost more than $100 to install any head unit in the car but if you're getting the tape player so that you can play your ipod with a tape adapter I think you should get a unit that has an mp3 jack so that you can just plug in a stereo wire that you can get from Radio Shack.

There is a simple solution to this matter: Purchase a car cd player with a 1/8" auxiliary input and run a 1/8" stereo cord from the headphone jack on your Ipod to the Aux Input jack.
Plus, if you really wanted to play cassette tapes, replace the ipod/mp3 player with an old walkman that you can get on Ebay for $10
A decent stereo will run you about $100-120. In you shop around, you can usually find free installation with purchase.

2007 Mazda6 audio is modular system. You can add a tape player into the system. The player will be on the bottom half of the unit. The total cost for parts is around US$230 MSRP.
Tape player module P/N GJ6A-79-ADX
New trim panel P/N GR9R-79-BCX (required for tape player installation).
If you have Ipod, you can buy IPOD Intergration module around $150 P/N C236-79-CFZ.
Installation is fairly easy.

Check e-bay for a CD player - It's possible that a CD player was an option that year. If there is one, the wiring for it is already in the dash, just have to swap the units. Also, see if maybe a remote CD changer was available. If so, then all the wiring is there, just tucked out of the way. I have a six disk CD changer in the trunk of my Grand Marquis, but a cassette player in the dash unit.

Well, there is an add-on module that you can try to add an aux-input to the factory system to connect your mp3 player. See link:

I never use it, so I don't know if it will work Join mazda6club forum and ask there. People there will know way more than people on Yahoo Answer.
