my sewer pump pushes the waste up from my basement to the sanitary sewer.when the wind is blowing from a certain direction, the house smells of sewer waste.what could be causing this problem?

Forget the Home Depot. Your "sewage ejector" has a removable lid with a seal. Perhaps the gasket is deteriorated.

If your on a city sewer system - call the sewer deptmnt - which, in most cities - is your Water, Sewage, Garbage Dept.
Or try calling a plumber and ask them what might cause the odor.
Good luck - we have a new septic system and it emits odor outside and I hate it.

There's a one way cap to prevent this action. Go to Home depot and talk to the Man.
