I wasn't sure until I figured it out just now. I was 45 with our
first grandchild. He's 19 now and will be 20 at the end of Jan.
We have three grandsons' totally. Our second is 14 years, and our youngest, who we have yet to see, is 9 years old.
The youngest still lives at home with his parents. The eldest
has left home and is missing.
Our middle grandson, has been our only grandchild we've
been allowed to see grow up. And he's probably the only one
we'll see ever. Our son shunned us for the years our eldest
grew up, and we didn't even know about the youngest til
recently. It's nice being a grandmother, but I wish I could have
actively played the part with the two other grandsons.

The great spirit blessed my daughter and her husband with a daughter one Feb 7th and made me a grandma at the age of 43. I am so blessed to be able to live to see my grand baby and it doesn't hurt that I don't look anything like my age so when I am out with my kids(29,15,12 and grand 6) people think my daughter is my sister and the others may be my kids! Some people never live to see their CHILDREN let alone GRANDCHILDREN! I just lost my Dad in Sept. and he got to be with his GREAT-GRAND! Now how blessed was he!

I was 42 and Tc was 35 when our eldest had our first grandson. She was 16. We have 2 grandsons now. Our eldest is 8y/o and I was with her when she gave birth to him. 16 y/o and her first child born breech and she had him naturally! It was touch and go with him for a while. Over the first couple of years he was fine and then it was discovered he was going deaf poor little love. It had something to do with him having high doses of antibiotics when he was born coz he had had a poo and swallowed some of it when he was still in the birth canal. He had a cochlear implant last year and he is coming along really well now. His speech is improving and he can now talk to us on the phone which is so wonderful as he couldn't do that before. Our other grand son was premature and his little lungs weren't formed properly. He was very poorly with chest problems for a few years and he had asthma which meant he had to have steroids a lot. Most kids who have steroids grow slower than other kids but he is an exception to the norm. He is 6 y/o, 7 on Dec 29th, and he is taller than his older brother and nearly as tall as his mum! (she's only 5ft 3") but he is a biggun! Love 'em to pieces! xx

Age: 43.
Number: 1 by blood, 2 by step.
Will be great grand at 63.

The great grand has me more tickled already than the grands ever did!

My up-bringing (straight laced, minimally-demonstrative father) kept me from truly enjoying my children. I learned to relax and enjoy a little bit with the grands and I think I am going to really get to know and enjoy the great-grands.

My parents became grand parents at the young age of 41 and then again at 44. Both of my kids are grown now and it is not likely that they will have kids. I'm not even an aunt, and I never will be either. That's okay though!
