We've carried on a tradition of making a thick New England
style clam chowder for Christmas Eve. It is something one
of my aunts' husband, always did, and it caught on with me
after leaving home. So it is something nice to fix early and
then you have the evening to be out of the kitchen. And only
one pot to wash, and bowls go into the dishwasher. And we
always serve garlic bread with it, or it wouldn't taste the same.
Last year, our SIL admitted he doesn't like clam chowder or
any seafood. And he grew up in Alaska of all things. So I
don't know what will be on the menu this year.
I used to sample some Swedish cookies that were made
in a waffle iron for snowflake shaped cookies. They were
the best cookies for Christmas I thought. And almond and
vanilla flavored. I never got a peek at the recipe, nor did I
have a little waffle iron like that, but I sure would like to make
some for our family. They were really light and delicious. A
friends mom always made them for Christmas when she
was alive. They weren't Christmas, without them for her family.

Used to always bake cookies when the boys were still home, but not anymore. It's not that I don't like them, but that I like them too much and can't stay away from them! Bake bread as gifts for the neighbors...started doing that a few years back and now they all look for it. And Christmas Eve we always have a big pan of lasagna....that's when we have our get together, and that's what everyone wants. Loved doing little crafty holiday things to tie on packages, but that's out this year because of my hand. Next year, though!!

How about you, Deb???

I make a bowl of a very colorful lime jello, that contains, crushed pineapple & small curd cottage cheese. When it's firmly molded, I cut up pieces of marachinos cherries, & decorate the top of the jello to look like holly berries are on the jello in the formation of a wreath. The jello looks so pretty in my cut glass bowl (an heirloom) & it has become a yearly tradition. It goes so well with our ham dinner.

Nope, I use to make tamales but I buy them and feel good about it. The Mexican lady I buy them from makes big ones and she uses the money for her Christmas win win for both of us! If nothing else I make Mexican Hot Chocolate. I have never found anywhere that makes it.
Happy Holidays

At work, they always like me to make up a big batch of the "chex mix" because I add cashews and chocolate pieces to jazz it up. They have already started asking me when I am bringing in the "Christmas munchies".
