If you were a celebrity, of course lots of people will care. If you are an ordinary person, a few will care.
People who love you will care, your family will care. Your dog or cat will care.

when i die, i won't care what people have to say about me because, well, i am dead.
But now, since i am not dead, i do care what people say about me when i do die because i am still alive and self conscious.
Make sense, no?
