My job consists of working at a Mexican fast food restaurant. Whilst talking amongst co-workers about artistic oddities, I got this crazy idea in my head.
I want to make a hard taco shell into a Christmas ornament.
I know what "ingredients" (artistic supplies) that I want to use for certain things.
However, my question is this...

*************
What would I put FIRSTLY on said taco shell, to preserve it and make it a bit stronger?
*************
-I thought about, lacquers of all sorts, some sort of clear coat or gloss. I'm not for positive though. I want something, that's not to terribly messy.
I'd appreciate ideas, input, suggestions,...etc.
Thank you.

How cute!

You can also just make the whole thing out of craft supplies and it's looks pretty real. Here are the instructions: http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/cr_scrapbooking/article/0,2025,DIY_13776_5141005,00.html

Just another idea. Happy Holidays. :)

The lacquers is the best thing,4 me "But yes messy /But it works very good ,how about spray lacquer....How big your trying to make the taco ornament, you could cut taco shell in 1/2 by wet then and cut then wet and put to dry and then work with then.and to preserve the shell if you want (I think i got it glue)Clear glue one side and then the other side. kids glue the one from school is white but it drys clear OK and the shell get stronger P.S.. i have done cook Rice n beans and preserved it very well 4 years on a plate on the wall.then if you want just spray clear, please let me know ok have fun/From ....AGODDESS

That is a very fun idea.

Any kind of clear shallac would work. You'd still have to be careful with it, and it will rot eventually. But it would probably last you through the season, at least.

Or you could make one from polymer clay.
