You ask if it's proper.
Why wouldn't it be.
A Puppie Shower is a party.
A gathering to have fun! Of other dog lovers! A party with friends that love animals. How cool is that.
You could make homemade dog cookies,
I think it could be fun. You could play games!
Also if you do not have parents for the new puppies that would be a good way to net work good homes.
Hey life has so much stress why not plan a fun day for your friends and pets..

You know, if you really don't want your dog giving birth, you can still get her spayed, even if she is pregnant. And please, no pro-life bullwooky! This is a DOG we are talking about, when there are already THOUSANDS of unwanted animals out there!
If you can't stand the thought of getting the dog spayed, then I suggest you spend the time finding adoptive families for the puppies, who will need to be weaned properly--a process that will take a minimum of eight weeks--better 12. And it is always nice if you get the pups de-wormed and get their first shots before you pass them on to their adoptive homes.

A fun party, yes, but don't wait too long pregnant dogs and those who have newly given birth are guarded.
And by the way, you should be the only one giving presents. Otherwise, sounds to me like extorting your friends.

It would not be proper unless your friends also have dogs and would think it a delightful idea!

I don't like the idea of baby showers in general, but if you like that kind of thing, go for it.
