How exactly does water in the engine sound? No, I'm not trying to be funny. Are you hearing a gurgling sound? If so, I would say either your coolant level is low or you have some blockage in the system. If you suspect a leak of water into the oil system, check the oil...it would be discolored and muddy looking.

if it sounds like it in the dash on the passenger side of your car everything is probably fine. it's the flow of water going back into the heater core. if you hear it in the front of the car it could be air in the coolant hoses also something you really don't have to worry about. the main thing is make sure the cars not getting hot if it is try leaving the radiator cap off and let the engine come up top operating temperature and top off the radiator. this is called burping the coolant system. it helps if you have air trapped under the thermostat. good luck

One of the best ways (worst ways) to get water into your engine is through a cracked block. Water could be on your engine as a result of leaking hoses, a leaking water pump or a leaking radiator. But in order to really know what's wrong you might want to post why you think you have water in your engine? What are you hearing? That could give readers a better clue to what's causing your problem.

I bet your radiator is a bit low. That's exactly what happens on my car, so don't let some of the other answers get you all worried.

if there's water in the oil pan the oil will appear Grey/brown or muddy looking, check you,re oil level, if it reads over full then you have a cracked head, block, or a blown head gasket.
