I recently noticed oil spots on the driveway under the front drive side, close to the inner wall of the tire. The spots are small, maybe an inch in diameter and whatever is, it's water resistant b/c the spots don't get as wet as the non spotted area when it rains. There isn't a puddle or any significant amount of 'stuff' for me to try to check what it is...Any ideas?

Is your car run by petrol (gasoline) or diesel?
The reason I asked: In Diesel engine there is such a thing as an over-flow or oil vent it is located at the top of the engine connected by a hose leading to where you just pointed out. Behind the right front tires almost below the driver seat (Isuzu, Mazda, Nissan, and the like). Also if the oil spot is so small (thus, it is not leaking oil) most probably it is just the steamed oil that has been accumulating in the said hose and alas it just dripped thereat, of all places.
If your engine is gasoline fed then gasket check is required.

well it would really help to know what kind of vehicle I'm working with but if its a 4x4 i would check the axle seals if it's a Chevy pick up the ring that seals the oil filter to the block could be the culprit or on a front wheel drive it could be tranny fluid or grease. more info would help but looking for a wet spot under the vehicle will normally show you a place good place to start. good luck

Power steering or brakes on that side... check if tight? also check hoses too.
