These are all really good thoughtfull answers. I got tickled when I mentioned him before and other really had a problem with hm. Yes he does lose the chairmanships.

Oh yea Chinagirl, I thought as some others he got tagged for a sex scandal and you know that Larry Flynt, the guy that uts out the rag Hustler was on tv stating he had aid a miilion for some info on a senator and would not say exactly, but said it would be a surprise.
What other folks on here have said is that he will become a lobbyist.. That if he had waited till the 1st he, the new law that comes into effect that states a senator cannot be involved with lobbying for two years after leaving office would have been in effect and he would not have been able to start doing that imediately.

In Dick Morris' book Outrage he has an entire chapter devouted to "lobbyist" and mentions how some of the senators and representatives have family that represent different lobby firms, which as far as I am concerned is illegal.

Hes leaving to make a lot of money. How? I don't know.
But he had to resign his leadership post several years ago because he praised an old man at his 100th birthday.
OK Thurman was an old KKK, But Robert Byrd was a Grand Dragon (some kind of top leader), so wheres the fairness in that.
Lott was a good leader and the Republicans will miss him.

Mississippi is one of the most conservative states so he will be replace by someone who is reliably Conservative. However Lott is an exceptionally good at senate politically maneuvering and getting things done, so he will still be missed by by the Republicans.

I think the Republicans will have to fight hard to keep the seat. But you are right about it being a loss, because the new senator will be a junior senator and will not hold a chairmanship for some years.

Hard to say if good or bad, he has connections and years of experience, but a lot of baggage.
