Get her what she wants. Nice pots and pans are expensive and she probably can't get a full set. But if you got her just a copper bottom dutch oven, it would be one step in the right direction.

I know my mom just turned 60 and bought herself all new pots and pans. She'd waited over 10 years and my dad never bought them for her.

She wouldn't have asked if she didn't really want them. And if you think about usefulness--she probably cooks every day. Why not help show her your appreciation for that at Christmas?

I'm getting my mom towels this year. A whole set for the guest bathroom that she's wanted to replace for years but was waiting for the right time.

I have a friend that believes Christmas presents should never be practical but should be something they would never buy themselves. Fun and frilly. If you feel that way, split your $100 and get her 2 gifts. One copper bottom dutch oven and one gift card to a spa for a facial.

That way you can get her the best of both worlds!

Well my husband got me a Ruby and Diamond ring last year for Christmas and he was able to talk the jewelry store clerk down from 270 dollars to a 120. It was the best present I got last year because Diamonds are my birthstone and Rubies are his.

why dont you get a gift certificate for her to get a oil treatment and a professional massage. i did that for my mom last christmas she's the same age and up to now she still remembers it. she really did enjoy it. Get a good package for that $100 and let her pamper herself.
