I feel being called a female is an insult that implies I do not have the value of a human. Females and men are how people are beginning to refer to people as. Am I not worth being considered a human?

I also take the other side into view. Sex and Gender are not the same thing. You can be female and be a man, you can be male and be a woman. There are people who are neither male nor female and there are also people who are neither men nor women. These ideas go above the heads of most adults around me so don't spend too much time pondering it if you don't get it.

Am I justified in feeling insulted at being called a female and not a woman or girl? (There is also the entire argument of calling women girls, but I am young enough to be referred to as either)

I understand that there is nothing wrong with it. However I am arguing that I feel Dehumanized by it when the terms used are Females or Men.

It implies, Men are humans, women are animals.

Let me clarify for the last time:

Take a look at it from an Anthropological viewpoint: Chimps are given the terms male and female. Humans Women and men. To call women females and refer to men as men means that you devalue the existence of a woman as a human being.

I believe that word choice says a lot about a society.

You have every right to have likes and dislikes in how you would like to be viewed. I define myself as a female, a woman, a mother..etc.. I do not mind because that is how I see myself. Most people do not have an issue, and since it is very widely social acceptable for someone to say that someone who looks female to be called a female, don't get so upset( not good for you at all!!) instead of being offended, when someone says you are female, just tell them that you identify more with...and fill in the blank.

You are allowed to have your own opinions. You don't have to like or even use the word female. I, personally, don't have a problem with it. I am a human, I am a human female. It's a biological fact.

Strictly speaking, gender IS biological. I do realize that some people struggle with gender issues. I mean no disrespect for those people. I am not going to debate gender identity issues. Biologically, gender is defined by your genetic makeup.

I have no problem being called a female, woman, or a girl. It's what I am. And I've heard a female chimp referred to as a girl. I figure there are much bigger issues to get upset about.

You have the right with your freedom of speech to voice whatever offends you, although it might not offend any other people.

There's nothing wrong with the word "female"- unless you equate it with the word "feline." (<--weak attempt at humor there.) Female is a biological term.

I guess it would also depend on how the word is used, and in what context. If someone shouted, "hey you female- etc." it would be insulting, not so much because the word is insulting, but the context it is used in is insulting. (It would be like saying, "hey woman.." it just doesn't sound very respectful overall.)

I think you're over-thinking it, hun. As long as they don't start calling us broads, we might as well assume that they don't mean offense.
Personally, I prefer the terms "male" and "female". It's easier than trying to judge whether to call them "men" or "boys", and "girls" or "women".

I don't see what your problem is it's just a word, I always like the term female beacause I am male and you give birth to us. So male comes out of female, feMALE/FEmale, feminin get it?

edit: you still don't get it do you WOMAN, we come from you.

Male and female aren't gender terms, but sexual. I think you meant "masculine or feminine"

"You can be female and be a man, you can be male and be a woman. "

You wrote the above. Back up that statement; it contradicts biology. Gender is a biological fact.
