I'm using Windows Vista and trying to type documents, my cursor is jumping around and causing me to jump around with my typing. Does anyone know how to disable the touch pad feature?

Unfortunately, Vista is arranged completely different than xp. I would go back to xp if I knew how to without having to do a total reinstall. The option to disable touch pad is not under control panel.

That relies upon on what style/kind of workstation you're utilising. There are laptops that have a turn on the mouse pad to disable it. in case you have not have been given it. flow to regulate Panel, then Mouse, then seek for the tab touching on the mouse pad of your workstation. there's a disable function there.

My wife has a laptop and I found I could disable her touch-pad under Start Menu>Settings>Control Panel>Mouse Properties. Once there, it was under the last tab, System Devices. She's running XP. Assuming no major changes have been made in this area, you should find it there as well.

The above answers may help, but there might be an easier way. My Toshiba laptop has a function key combo that can quickly enable/disable the touchpad. (In my case it's fn+F9, the F9 key has a touchpad on/touchpad off icon on it showing what it does.) Your laptop might have something similar, check the keys or the documentation. An icon in the system tray might provide a way to quickly enable/disable the touch pad too, otherwise you can try the other methods mentioned above.

Gosh I hate those stupid touchpads. I use Virtual Touchpad Cover ( http://tygielectronics.com/download/vtcvr100.zip )
