Why are dogs better than cats? (debate)?

Its for a debate. I have to say why dogs are better than cats. May I have some help?

Also if you could say why cats are better ill think of some refutes ^^

DOGS ARE MORE BETTER THAN CATS BECAUSE:
1. Being pack animals, they are more loyal.
2. They try really hard to please their people.
3. This makes them easier to train than cats.
4. Dogs instinctively defend their people from attack.
5. Dogs notify their people when somebody arrives on the property.
6. Dogs will learn to respect and love other pets in the house, regardless of species. Cats have a compulsion to hunt small animals.
7. Dogs are good companions to play with or take for a walk. Cats will only play if they feel like it, and they are difficult to train to a leash.
8. Even the tamest and best trained cat can rarely be relied upon not to scratch if annoyed. A well socialized dog will never nip or bite when annoyed.
9. A cat's mouth is a source of infection, much more than a dog's mouth. Most dog bites do not require a doctor visit, while most cat bites do.
10. Dogs don't jump up on the kitchen counter or knock your expensive figurines off the mantle.
11. Dogs don't shred your furniture with their claws.
12. More people are allergic to cats than to dogs.
13. Dogs don't yowl when they are in heat.
14. Male dogs, if allowed to live with their mates, will help care for the puppies.
15. Dogs come in more sizes, builds, and temperaments.
16. Dogs are better at coming when you call, and otherwise doing what you say.
CATS ARE MORE BETTER THAN DOGS BECAUSE:
1. They keep rodents out of the house (most dogs aren't much good at this).
2. They naturally use a litter box. Dogs have to be house trained and then you have to take them out, or teach them to use a paper.
3. You can leave a cat for days at a time; they will use the litter box and you can leave food and water.
4. Cats are more independent.
5. You don't have to bathe a cat; cats clean themselves.
6. Cats don't compulsively jump up on your best clothes, shredding your nylons and getting hair all over your black suit.
7. Cats are much quieter, unless they are fertile and seeking a mate.
8. All cats are pretty.
9. If you get a kitten, it won't end up weighing 80 pounds when it grows up.
10. Cats don't eat as much.
11. A cat can live in an apartment and doesn't have to go outside.

I think dogs are better because:
-Love their owners, and will sacrifice their life for whom they love
-Can be funny and brighten your day
-Plain adorable as pups-
-Has a six-sense, can find out if a person if about to have a seizure, heart attack, ect.
-Loyal

There is no reason to say any cat could possible be " better " than any dog.

To add to above comprehensive list; dogs are smarter than cats and this is empirically supportable.

Dogs aren't better than cats. Cats rule and dogs drool!

But seriously, I love them both. I couldn't tell you why one is better than the other, they're both great. I'm such a big help here, aren't I?
