My 1991 ford explorer has trouble shifting from 1st to 2nd gear?

MY 1991 FORD EXPLORER WONT SHIFT INTO SECOND GEAR UNTIL I LET OFF OF THE GAS THEN IT SHIFTS JUST FINE, JUST WONDERING WHAT THAT MIGHT BE?

Sounds like you need to take it in for service.

when you let of the gas it allows an increase in vacuum. this prompts the transmission to shift when you have a faulty or improperly adjusted modulator. This is probably not a real expensive fix.
