OMG! That's amazing! I wonder if he was doing it for greed or need. Gotta feel sorry for the family, but what kind of company would allow so much overtime!
My job makes each of us go on-call for an entire week, every six weeks. So on top of our regular 40 hours/week, we have to be ready to leave our homes at a spur of the moment, even in the middle of the night.
Last year I was on call. I was called in in the middle of the night Sunday night. Was still there in the morning. I left to go home. Had just taken a shower, no chance for supper, when I got called back out. There was an awful problem at one of the plants. I was there all night. Worked the next day, where I was relieved from THAT duty, and then after 5:00 I had to go back again to that plant, and work all night again! I didn't get sleep until Wednesday evening, when, basically, I got home, ate, and slept til Thursday morning. It was a bear and I was exhausted. Can you imagine what that poor man must have gone through!

Another One Bites the Dust:
There are plenty of ways you can hurt a man
And bring him to the ground
You can beat him
You can cheat him
You can treat him bad and leave him
When he's down
That company definitely hurt not just the man, but his family, friends, co-workers, etc.
Unfortunately, as you'll read from other comments, lots of people work just as many hours, if not more. I wonder how many of us wonder how we'll physically make it. I used to work one full-time plus three part-time jobs. That was after working full-time and going to college full-time. It was really difficult, and the time took a toll on me.
I'm just sad this man didn't make it. Remember that when your boss is asking more of you than you KNOW you can physically handle: sometimes the job isn't worth it!
Edit - Scooter, You know another UK person who likes cheese? Is that what the prof says or something? Just curious! (BTW, Scooter, I used to date a guy nicknamed Skeet -- nicest guy I ever met. So sweet.)

Um. This is completely unrelated to your question, but have you always had that name on here? I think I've met your UK twin, that's all, separated at birth I suspect.
