that would be funny but mean.
When i turned 16, I opened my gift from my parents. IT WAS A CELL PHONE!!! I was sooo excited!!! I opened the box and inside was a toy cell phone they bought at the dollar store. They thought it was funny.

Lol, funny. Seriously, if the kid has a sense of humor and won't be mad, do it. But if the kid is like any normal kid who wants an Ipod touch, try doing the opposite. For my 16th birthday, my parents gave me an Against All Odds box. I opened it, and inside of that was an extremely small box that was like.. A baby book or something... I was like "are you kidding me?" so I opened it and it had an ipod in it, I was so happy. =]

That is so mean...but hilarious!!! I would feel really bad for the kid though. The only way I would do that is if I really was going to give them an iPod Touch afterwards. Unless the kid in question is a bad kid.

no it actually hurts a kid to think for 7 seconds they have a parent who loves them enough to give them and iPod Touch then find a bar of soap instead that's *****y man!

it'd be funny, but the kid would beat the **** out of you for not getting the ipod and just soap. maybe u can give him both, and give the ipod later. it would be quite the comical anecdote.

I think its funny as long as you are really going to give him the ipod a little later after watching them pitch a major tantrum..

It would be funny but, I don't think he would ever forget what you did and maybe he might repay the joke on your Birthday or Fathers day. He would have a lot of time to think about what kind of package to use for your gift!

My Grandmother always re-uses her boxes, so that kind of thing happens to me almost every year!
