I have only driven through WV but I can tell you that the only people I have ever met from there give you an experience like none other. You can get into an argument with a brother, his father and his cousin while talking to just one person. It's a family tree with a lot of looping branches. And the water is green.
Let me just comment on Tabby B's statement below:
It sounds like the mother in you wants her daughter to find a new friend, the daughter in you wants a new friend and the second cousin in you wants her cousin to be happy.
Not that your state is worse than many others when you compare them. Like backwoods parts of Kentucky and Tennessee.

I went to Morgantown, West Virginia. It was nice...the drive their is beautiful! In Morgantown though their isn't really a lot of trees. It is a typical college town, the weekends start as early as Thursday night. The people are nice though, a lot of smokers there as well. I liked WV when I went there though!

No. I have been to Richmond, Virginia. There were a lot of beautiful mountains and forestry. I think most of Virginia looks the same.

I live in WV! All of the sterotypes are very untrue. We have indoor plumming,and all of our teeth. West Virgina is like every other state. Well, not exactly...we have a very low crime rate. It is beautiful here,and EVERYONE is so nice. The state is in a way like every other place,but it's different in a lot of really good ways. I live in north central WV, and it is amazing. You should definately come check it out.

Very beautiful state. The folks were nice, but I did notice a bit of oddness about the folks that live way out of major cities. Makes one think of Dueling Banjos........

It is gorgeous. Get off the highways and try the mountain roads - it takes forever to get anywhere but you will actually see the little towns then. White water rafter is good there, too.
