Wow! Great answers everyone! I know I should have posted the Eurocup2004 win in the Soccer/Football section, but then Greek-haters would make comments. Living in America I do not know what happens in Greece, but I do know that little Greektown in my city went CRAZY in 2004, car horns honkinng, lots of dancing and blue and white flags everywhere and painted faces too!!

^_^ Well lets see what happens in 2008!

Thanks everyone!
Congratulations to the winner of the vote!

For some of us the most memorable moment was when one of our ancestors squeezed the olive and drained oil from it.....and that's how we Greeks discovered the olive oil:)

The Euro cup of 2004 and the winning of the Euro basket 2005 and the second place at the World Basketball Championship of 2006!!I'm really not that nationalistic but those were moments I really enjoyed, fell proud and probably will never forget in my whole life concerning my country(in personal memories i have much more exciting memories but those have nothing to do with Greece)

My exciting moment in Greece was when I visited Delphi. This is the sanctuary of Apollo.Near Delphi there is a small village in which have been living a lot of old people aged around 100.Once of the year they run some like marathon towards the close hills.Other best moments were when I visited the Miccena fortress,Epidavros/on the biggest ancient amphitheaters/ and the Acropolis.

Although on the video there is too much exaggeration on the part of the speaker, newscaster, the sentiments of the ordinary people were the most genuine
Something similar to that, people lived during the two first anniversaries of 1974 and 1975 of the Polytechneion (Polytechnic) Uprising against the junta back in 1973.
People, in full unison went on the main streets to celebrate the event.
But many, minor in importance, instances were the reason that people went to frenzied celebrations. That is the way we Greeks are. Exaggerating in our joy.
