It is much easier to try sex and nudity at home without adult supervision. Or worse, WITH adult supervision. Kids understand pain a lot more than the need for maturity and safety, and already know that you can't cut off your friend's head and remain friends.

well i'm a teen and i'd say sex/nudity scenes would have a lot more effect on me when i was younger than violence would have. violence was in the realm of my imagination, but sex wasn't. it spurs a lot more curiosity and misdirection. it ruins your decency. violence is unacceptable to watch too but i mean it takes a larger scale of violence to equal the effect of a smaller scale of sex
plus it is a lot more difficult to point out 'right and wrong' in sex than it is in violence, as your question just proves. obviously it is right between a husband and wife. but then you have to add all these qualifications "not with someone you're not married to" "not before your married" "you can't watch other people having it" i mean, do you expect a kid to remember/agree to all of that. on the other hand violence is like "don't hurt people. period. " lol

The Catholic church (which basically was a fly on the wall during the Holocaust) used to have a League of Decency, which pretty much controlled what you saw on the screen. The movie makers finally came up with their own code which you're familiar with. To go back a little further, humans began clothing themselves for warmth. (Then came garb to cover ugliness: do we want to see everybody's nude body??? We can't imagine how many times a day we'd vomit.) Finally, religion was invented and has pretty much set our mores since. Evidently, as you put it, sex is more HORRID than murder, torture, war, hunger, the death penalty etc. Don't ask me. Ask your pastor.

I think it has something to do with child psychology.
Mind you, I'm not ok with the casual attitude our culture has towards violence, however...
The average child is more capable of understanding violence in a fictional context, and not being confused by it or trying to emulate it, than they are for sexuality.
Sexuality tends to be much more confusing to a child, and they are more likely to be upset by it or try to emulate it.
It doesn't make sense from our adult perspectives, but it's actually true.
Again though, I think our culture takes it to the extremes in both- being too casual about violence, and too repressed about sex.

Graphic violence is a bit of a misnomer. I would consider some of the boxing sequences in the "Rocky" series to qualify.
However, I agree with you. It is just that the Puritanical morals we embrace in America have really screw up our society.

Too true! But I think we can teach our kids that both are inappropriate, rather than putting a "Go" flag on sex and a "Stop" flag on violence. It's important to protect our children, both need equal attention.

For some reason it's ok to see people (For Children) being shot and beheaded/stabbed and so forth than I nice love making scene. (Hard Porn should never be allowed) but a real nice love story with high taste should be ok as long as the people watching are not real young.

Sex tends to alienate some and bring together the rest. You can't make nearly as much money bringing people together as tearing them apart. Unless you're really, really good at bringing people together. But that's another point for another time

SEx is a sacred bond between a husband and a wife, not something to be doing with everyone, and definately not something to have other people watching!! Parents can teach kids that beating other kids up is bad, parents can teach kids discipline, but watching sex is still watching sex
