I am a 17 year old who lives in Southern California and I have a job, which requires me to work late nights. I work at restaurant and bar. I have to park my car in an underground parking lot and I have been hassled and threatened by drunks and aggressive homeless people. I wanted to buy a CO2 powered BB gun or pellet gun but was wondering if it is legal for me to carry this gun in my car's glove box. I know you must be 18 yrs to purchase an air gun but I have checked it out with my parents and they fully support me in this. I just need to know if I get pulled over or have to use it if this would restrict my chances of buying a firearm in the future or if this would require a jail sentence.

That a lame idea. Get pepper spray much more effective. It's designed for that very situation. You need to be 18 to purchase it but you'll get into a lot less trouble if you have to use it.

Think about this, say you pull a BB gun on some drunk and he pulls a real one? What if you do manage to drive him off and he presses charges? You'll end up as the bad guy and run the risk of a felony conviction for ADW.

A BB gun isn't much of a deterrent to an angry drunk or someone high on meth. You could end up getting your throat cut. Think about it.

A BB gun is essentially a toy. If you plan to use one for simulated self defense be sure to grind off the front sight and keep the barrel greased. If you don't know what I'm saying here please feel free to e-mail me and ask for further explanation.
