been trying to find out who owns the mineral rights. a drilling company has surveyed a proposed drilling site for natural gas five feet from my property line. already been to railroad commission web site, not much help, and not wanting to get legal help at this time.

Records like that are kept in the County Courthouse...you will need plat map info
to get the records.

you have to go to the county court house & look up the record for your property. it is my understanding that this must be recorded by law & stored there. they should have a copy of the contract of the oil/gas company that has a lease on the land including the names of those who signed the form giving away surface rights to a drilling co. like the one you are describing.
