a little research into what's the name of the bug that's bugging you, then planting or making available, living areas for the bug that bugs your bug!~!!.... natural predators are our best defense..... ladybugs agains aphids, for example... that little wasp against hornworms *fergot it's name, sorry.........there's a bunch more.... then, too, for bugs like aphids and spidermites, just a good blast with the hose does a fair job... at least it gets the numbers down to where the predators have a better chance against them!....

I like the garlic, too... and the marigolds and the wormwood/artemesia plants.... that heavy scent puts off a lot of bugs, too... and there's more, so looking it up will get you more ideas that way....

typical home remedy... soapy water sprayed on some bugs is a death sentence!... but be careful with the soap... use ONLY a natural oil type soap*, not an antibacterial detergent dish soap!!!!j....I keep my old slivers of Ivory soap in a mason jar of water in the greenhouse and use that when soap is called for.... or get you some insecticidal soap and keep that handy!...*baby shampoo, Murphy's oil soap, that kind of thing!........... for the hard bugs, Neem oil is a doozie... on the soapy stuff.... remember that it has to CONTACT the bug.... give it a while to work and then spray it off the plants and the dead bugs with it.... also remember that, like with aphids, the next generations will be along in a few days, so you'll need to spray again... and again... and again... for a while to get ahead of them.....

also.... a FEW bugs is okay to have... it keeps the predators well fed!!... don't ever try to eradicate them ALL or the predators will move out , too, and then you'll have an unbalanced MESS!!!!.....

Don't spray for ANTS!!! I think something like 75% of home pesticides are for ants. Ants are best gotten rid of by wiping them up, blocking the entry point, or by using a bait. Ant sprays are dumb :).

You can also not hire termanix, or any other company. They tend to use a lot of pesticides.

You can also not use anti-bacterial products as they are pesticides. Don't use it for hand soap, don't use it for laundry soap, don't use it in your detergents... It's pretty pointless to use anyways, hand washing done correctly, is quite effective. I do like hand sanitizer though, that's fairly innocuous...

I also wouldn't buy herbicides, like round-up, I would pull weeds by hand. Spiders are pointless to use pesticides with, and aphids can be sprayed off with a stream of water... I wouldn't use those weed'n'feed products either, they are pointless....

Don't buy those clothing products with pesticides built into them, don't buy the silver ion washing machines that sterilize your clothes, don't buy RAID....

Anywho, there you go! I got wild with the idea of not using pesticides hehe!

Water mixed with dish soap is a very good home remedy for lawn and garden pests that will not harm your grass or plant. Does not work on subsurface insects.

Garlic is not the answer, lol! But organic fertilizers, and fresh air around plants, and careful planting are.
