Guys...did anyone even READ his question?

You do not have a wireless adapter on your desktop.
You need a Wireless adapter card to connect to your wireless router. Your notebook as one built in (most likely). Desktops don't come with this standardly.
You can pick one up at Walmart. There are USB and PCI version...the USB is easiest to setup. You don't have to open your computer case, and they work just fine.

You need a cable to run the fast ethernet card that you have in your desktop.
You can purchase a PCI card to make your desktop connect to a wireless network.

For a wireless connection you need a wireless card, not a wired one. You need to buy one for a desktop.
