"Herald O. Revelers here, reporting from the front lines of the battle between a tree with little red balls and a snowman that isn't made of snow. Now many of you will likely ask- 'What exactly are these Christmas yard decorations fighting about?' And to tell you the truth, that, is any body's guess at this point. I'm afraid that the cause of the battle will remain unknown and all we have at this point is conjecture based on reports from witnesses that can only be described as patchy at best. However, from these sketchy observations we do know that there was much animosity surrounding these two. The red-balled tree, which has a perennial favorite in this yard from Christmases past was heard commenting about this year's newcomer, the snowman. Witnesses, deemed reliable in this case quoted the tree as saying 'That puffed up peacock is full of hot air and too much of him self.' and 'If I have to look at those silly plastic pellets swirling around in his see-through belly one more night, he just may get the sharp end of my left root up his blower.' Also, unconfirmed sources have also indicated that the snowman had exchanged words not only with the tree but with the plastic reindeer pulling Santa's sleigh in the yard next door. Unfortunately, Santa and the reindeer have fled the scene and are unavailable for comment. As it stands now, all I can do is report the facts as we know them. 1. The tree with the little red balls is now ball-less and lies splintered approximately three feet from where it once grew. 2. The red balls lay scattered and shattered about the yard... every last one of them. The snowman is slumped over with a 2 foot slash in his see-through abdomen. The little white pellets bled out hours ago. It looks like there were no winners here tonight. We do know that tree is survived by 5 pine cones and an adopted family of squirrels. The snowman listed no next of kin prior to joining the yard decorations. Services will be held for the tree at the bar-b-que pit in the park. Mourners are asked to bring their own hot chocolate and marshmallows. The snowman will be entombed in an unmarked box and left at the curb for pick up during Monday's trash collection. I have to say folks, this is a very sad day indeed for Christmas lawn decorations everywhere. We can only hope that such violence doesn't visit the yards this Easter or next Halloween. This is Herald O. Revelers. live from East main Street."
