My favourite thing about Christmas is that more people than usual try to be friendly and charitable and kind, and the general closeness and spirit that the holiday offers. I was just standing outside tonight and looking around the neighborhood and thinking that despite all of the differences we may have, everyone still puts up pretty decorations and enjoys time spent with family and friends. There's a commonality there that's quite nice.
I also really like decoration in and of itself, as long as it's tasteful. And the foods that are enjoyed during the season. I enjoy buying and making gifts and dishes for other people, especially the kids. I enjoy taking kids to see festivals of lights, and I love watching the Christmas shows on tv - Rudolph, Charlie Brown, Frosty. I've watched those shows every year of my life around Christmas.

This Christmas will be the best for me because me, my mum, my little brother, my boyfriend and I are going up to Yorkshire to stay with my grandparent's and my auntie. My grandparents and my auntie have never met my boyfriend (we've been together for almost two years). It's going to be so cosy and family like because they live in a terraced house and they have such tacky decorations but I love it so much. My other favourite part is that this year I've really made an effort with the Christmas presents and I can't wait to see my grandparent's see that I've bought them a square foot of land each and they will officially become Laird and Lady Metcalfe! I've also got my little brother a robot K9 dog from Dr Who and Transformers, Simpsons and Jackass (He's 9!) dvds. I can't wait for us all to be sat round the table eating dinner as well - the little sausages in bacon! I have a feeling it's going to be good :)

Family!!! forget the presents although I love to buy for others I honestly cant think of anything I want or need. My daughter will be moving back home that's the best gift I could have is to have her close. I love to cook a huge feast of every ones favorites. Cookies and other baking. Decorating the house. My husband travels lots for work so the holidays are a time I get to have him for days on end. That is a joy. Only bad thing is we have no young children in our family to enjoy their reactions to the lights and magic. Hope yours is the best ever!!!

I love sitting round with a glass of wine on Christmas eve, wrapping up presents for my kids after they've gone to bed. The anticipation of seeing them ripping them open in the morning gets me really excited about Christmas.
My daughter was born on Christmas day, so it's a double celebration in my house.
I also love the fact that people in general are much nicer to each other. Complete strangers wishing each other well is great to see.

Christmas blizzard! Here in Maine we get these white-out blizzards from time to time. I usually grab my boots and go out right in the middle of them. I love to walk outdoors and see the Christmas lights in and on the homes in our neighborhood. The tall trees looking like upward thrusting clusters of black wires against the pale dark glowing purple winter night sky... When I come back down the street in all the snow and with the wind roaring around me, I love that feeling of looking at my home and knowing I can walk up to and go into that house because it is mine, and it is warm and safe. I come back inside and then sit in the livingroom with only the lights on the Christmas tree illuminating the room, listening to the wild winds howling in the chimney! I have sat for hours like that, sipping really hot tea, and dreaming about how fortunate I am to be able to toss off my boots and put my feet up and just enjoy the storm. I almost want it never to end. I think: "Let it rage awhile!"
I love the decorations, the coloured lights, my two housecats Johann and Little Scooter, but the wild blizzard outside the house making the walls creak with the gusts of snow blowing against them, plus the snow whirling around the windows and making the sound of sleet against glass... all of that is what I love best about Christmas: I live for the BLIZZARD!!!

We never do a big Christmas dinner, my extended family is not much fun to be around, and presents are nice but not what the holiday is about to me. I like the feeling I get being around my family (close family) singing Christmas songs.

I love seeing people make an effort at Christmas with the decorations, more importantly spending time together with friends and family.
