I have a bachelor's degree and I'm starting graduate school in January, thank you very much. Also, I wasn't asking for your opinions on MY financial state, I was just trying to get an idea of how everyone else is doing, old or young!

why are you broke?

after reading your other posts, I now know why you are broke. STOP SMOKING THE WEED! You are no longer a kid.

At 26, I was married, owned a house and had a baby. NOTE: we got married first, then had the baby. Vs playing house.

YOU NEED TO GROW UP.

Yeah, you gotta stop smoking marijuana. Most of us kick that habit by 21 or 22. You do not want to be the person thats in her late 30s or early 40s still smoking pot everyday.

Anyway, Im 33, about 5,000 in the bank right now (just paid off my last 1,000 dollars of student loans last month) and car will be paid off in about 3 more months. No credit card debt (but have a 16,000$ limit if i ever need it) But the truth is I worry just as much about money now (maybe even more actually) than i did when i was in my early 20s and broke like you. Funny because when you are broke you worry about where your next few dollars are coming from. Once you are secure in your job and have some cash, you worry about how you will survive when you retire.

I'm 33 year old single female and own my own house and suv. I participate in my company's 401K but other then that I don't have much in savings. So really, I'm not in that good of finanial shape. My weakness is clothes, Coach Bags and too many trips to Starbuks. If I cut back I would be in decent financial shape for my age. Most of my liquid assets were dumped into the house I just bought so I have over 50% equity in my home.

I'm 26, married, own a house, two cars, a motorcycle and an ATV. My debt is limited to my mortgage and student loans. I did it ALL by myself with no help from my parents. Put myself through school and made smart financial choices. Sounds like you need to do the same. Oh, plus I'm a teacher, so you know I make no money.

I have two kids slightly older than you are, and both are in excellent financial shape. Of course, rather than smoke weed, both went to college and obtained advanced degrees.

One is now a patent attorney and the other a corporate vice president.

See what can happen when you make the correct moves early in life ?

It's time to start spending less than you earn. Shred your credit cards and start saving for retirement. Retirement (or dying on the job) will come faster than you think.
