im not really sure but im pretty sure it does matter what you take in high school to get in to college. If you want to be a vet your not going to take a history class

All NP programs require you to get a BSN first. However, there are a few special programs for people who have a bachelors in another field.
UIC has a nurse practitioner program. "UIUC's" nursing program is actually offered through UIC. Some of UIC's NP programs require you to have a few years experience before applying.
Northwestern doesn't have nursing.
ISU and SXU do have nursing programs, but that aren't as well known or well ranked as UIC's program.
Just take the standard college prep program, and make sure to max out your math and science options.
NP is a masters degree.

There are no specific classes in high school you really can take to better your chances. The only thing I would suggest would be taking honors level and/or science classes. It really matters what classes you take in college but they don't expect you to have taken nursing classes in high school.
