The clear assumption in that comment is that illegal aliens are commit a lot of crime, and that not allowing them to cross makes a real difference, if this is true it is shocking. Because the media portrays illegals as law abiding humble people (other than of course breaking the law by being here.) Drug Trafficking is probably a large portion of the reduced crime, but I'm still interested does anybody know where his statistics stating that crime was reduced almost by half come from? What do you think about this issue?

There was a story on the local news a few months ago about one of the towns that sits on the border where the fence went up. They interviewed residents who said that before the fence went in they would see hundreds of people running across their property every single day and they felt threatened and there were tons of thefts, burglaries and loitering. After the fence they were saying how it was a complete turn around and that there were maybe 2 a day instead of hundreds. The segment wasn't political in nature it was just telling the stories of what the residents had experienced. It seems like the fence has worked there.

The Fence will not be long enough to truly keep all illegal aliens from crossing to the United States. There was a comprehensive plan presented to reform illegal immigrant status which was supported by President Bush, John McCain and the democrats that was shot down by the Republican members of Congress. The fence was never funded fully during 7 years of a Republican president and Republican controlled congress so there is no way it will be completed in a democrat controlled congress and soon a Democrat Presidency.

It is a farce to hear Mitt Romney and Rudy have the nerve to complain about immigration considering their records. Tancredo and Hunter are haters of the first degree.

There are many more issues more important than illegal immigration such as extricating ourselves from Iraq, Universal Health Care and restoring our reputation in the global community.

The fence is a good start and it would keep many illegals out. There should be additional protection. Guards with real good weapons and their hands untied. Dogs, technology etc. Duncan Hunter would do what it takes.

His fence is good, but not great... it doesn't protect from underground tunnels for example. What we truly need is a hybrid of a traditional wall and a technological digital wall (that detects movement underground and vandalism/climbing of the wall).
