Kids are like that because their parents get them anything they want. They are spoiled greedy little ones. There are plenty of kids out there that would be happy to have one gift under the tree. Plus these days you are not supposed to say Merry Christmas but Happy Holidays. I think kids are only seeing what the media is presenting to them about how the holidays are. And what do we see on TV this time of year? Commercials that are telling people to buy buy buy. They are not showing the homeless or the poor who won't be able to have a hot meal for Christmas. It is the spirit of spending and getting instead of giving and helping. God needs to come back into the holidays and things will improve.

Just because children today expect to get expensive things does not mean that they should get what they want. I grew up not always getting everything and we did not expect everything plus our parents did not have the money. What we did get we took care of. I am still like that to this day. Kids do not appreciate things because that is the way they are raised. I love getting gifts no matter what it costs and I always appreciate anything when someone buys me a present. It is not the price that matters to me but the gift itself no matter what it is.

Sad isn't it? When I was a kid I never had the "is this it?" attitude. I grew up w/o a lot of money (and still don't have A LOT). Last year I gave my cousin a gift (small but I put a lot of thought into it) and he was all "What? Is this it? Nothing else?"
I felt horrible! Not that he made me feel sorry that I didn't get him anything more just his "I want more!!" attitude. I aggree kids want WAY more than they deserve, and WAY more then a lot of people can/want to give them.

Yes! If they don't get what they want they pout. You are so correct...most (not all) have a gimme attitude and appreciate very little. I love children but let me tell you...parents need to spend more time teaching them about gratitude and less time buying them off so thay don't show their @@@!

I assume what the Bible teaches us to assume. and that's what i'm getting. on occasion not as undesirable yet different cases, worse. that's what that's. i've got not got the corporate worldwide to handle anymore; a minimum of not on the comparable scale; and that i've got not got college atmosphere the two, yet I even have uncovered myself to wacky people who're very annoying and understand not what they do. heavily. yet I do think of having an atheist history has helped me in this endeavour. only because of the fact i'm Christian does not propose you could take income of me. this is a comfortable dance. yet because of the fact i can comprehend it, I take pre-emptive measures. constantly with the Lord in suggestions.

Because the selfish, Pagan-inspired traditions make it impossible for Christians to understand the real meaning of CHRISTmas. It's sad, really.

Yes, many children and adults have very high expectations but please don't think everyone is like that. No one in my family has ever behaved in such a greedy manner so I think it really depends on the individual family and its personal values.

Yes. Because of all these high-tech gadgets now a days, children see it and automatically assume they deserve and will get it.
