I guess I can just study it but I'll eventually get confused so I need ways 2 remember all the 112 elements.

The best bet is to learn chemistry, but that takes longer. Then, if you get stuck recalling what's after sodium (column I), you think of something in column II. Calcium is too heavy, so the lighter one is Magnesium. For the symbols, it's just practice to remember that Pt is platinum but Pd is palladium. To remember that tin is Sn, it helps to know that toothpaste containing stannous fluoride used to come in tin tubes. The rest is practice. I never did learn the rare earth elements.
From your parents' point of view, this will be money very well spent! Good luck! It will actually be useful in the long term.

I found this amazing paper. It is not just a huge mnemonic for the entire table, but it organizes them by both column and row.
http://www.springerlink.com/content/n4041407123843k4/?p=6b4ed3972fb64d43849e3eb728f5c2b4&pi=2
(Look in the right margin under text to open the "Entire Document".)
The mnemonic itself seems hard to memorize ... but it's a lot easier (and a lot funnier) than the table itself.
Good luck! I've never been able to do more than just the first few rows.
