absolutely....they're old enough to know better, and know the consequences for those actions, yet chose to do it anyway.

If they commit adult crimes, they should receive adult punishment.
Parents are considered to be responsible for the actions of their minor children. Maybe they should receive the same penalty.
It is INSANE to prevent parents from disciplining their children. If the State says parents can't discipline their own children, then the State MUST be assuming the children are always responsible for their own actions.
How can a parent be considered "negligent" if they are NOT responsible?
The LAW is CRAZY!

They should be tried as adults if for no other reason than most juvenile convictions are sealed after they turn 18. That means a conviction as a minor wouldn't 'exist' after 18.

No. although they definitely should know the difference between right and wrong as well as the implications of their actions, they should not be tried as adults-the decision part of their brains are still developing.

im not saying they should get away with it, because anyone who commits that kind of act should be punished

<> Just because something it legal doesn't mean it's right. <> There's a reason you can't spell 'assume' without '***'. People who assume too much end up making asses of themselves. < murder, how come?>> Doesn't make sense, does it - and yet, there you are advocating people merely ASSUME the government is right! <> WRONG! <> Ad hominem attacks hurt your credibility. Perhaps Marc, like me, doesn't see too much in the way of credibility when reading your question. < is NOT murder.>> The term "fetus" literally means "the young in the womb". The fetus IS a living human being. Life begins at conception, not birth nor some arbitrary point in between. Therefore, every abortion constitutes the murder of an unborn human being. <> But the fetus IS human. Therefore, abortion IS murder. < and stupid imagination.>> What's so narrow minded about acknowledging the unborn for the living human beings they are? Since you're unable to do that, wouldn't that suggest your mind is in fact more narrow than mine? < person NOT two.>> That just goes to show how schizophrenic human institutions can be - and you want to ASSUME such an institution (the government) is right.

I don't think so. At least not young teenagers.I know this is far from my usual right wing way of thinking but I believe we should at least try to rehabilitate a young person before they end up in "big boy" prison.

If teenagers can be punished as adults how come they don't get the same rights as adults, like buying beer.
