When it comes to if the outfits are distracting or not. I think a lot of has to do with where a person’s mind and heart is. Be it male or female, if a person is looking for something physical and not focusing on Our Creator, anyone that the person finds attractive will be distracting regardless of what the other person is wearing.

However the Bible also talks about is not being stumbling blocks to others as well as dressing modestly and appropriately (that applies to male and female). In my opinion anyone that comes in intentionally trying to show off their bodies and tempting others (thus creating the stumbling block) those people need to take a close look at their soul and really consider if they are following our One True Creator. Or are they following that Demon from Hades.

That brings me to one of the reasons I think so many people have trouble with churches today for there are many in the church that pretend to follow our Creator but are obviously not. Thus someone that knows little about Our Creator might not realize the people they are seeing in the church are not really practicing what Our Creator teaches: 2Co 11:13 For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as Christ's apostles. 2Co 11:14 And no wonder, for even Satan masquerades as an angel of light.

Which is why I always try to remind people just starting to look into a church or learning about Our One True Creator:

Never confuse the practices of the people with the church,
Never confuse the practices of the church with religion,
And Never Ever confuse the practices of religion with God.

May Our Creator bless and watch over you and your family.

When I was in Singapore I rarely go to church.

I dont know, maybe because of the hot and humid weather of Singapore, quite a bunch of women church attendees wear skimpy outfit (kulang sa tela). And you know most of these women are pinay DH on their usual Sunday day-off.

I think its distracting. The purpose of going to church is to worship and pray, listen to the sermon and the good news and get spiritual inspiration. A skimpy outfit that really attracts attention, I think is inappropriate inside the church.

Sure, in a free world anyone has the freedom to wear what they want when they want, but then, one has to observe and be sensitive to the other people's views and beliefs.

I for one, consider the church as a sacred and holy place. A place where I seek refuge when I am spiritually troubled. A place to take me away for a few moments, from worldly things and commune with God.

A skimpy outfit has its rigthful place but not inside the church.

In the US, in the churches, what we do not understand when we are in a church is that some American mothers allow their daughters to dress badly. Not meaning skimpy yet stylish, but badly as if they were going out to dig in the garden or hang around the schoolyard with their friends, sloppy wrinkled clothes, bare middle, blue jeans with hole and more like that. Yes it shows disrespect to the priest or the pastor and the other worshippers. How is it they are not ashamed? That's the American way some people say.

We had a similar issue at our church a few years ago (I'm Baptist, btw). Some church members complained that some teenagers were dressed inappropriately for the services, i.e. parang pupunta sa gimmick o sa party, short skirts, midriff blouses, etc. Our pastor said something like it's the parents' responsibility to guide their offspring as to what is appropriate to wear to church. He also said that we should be thankful na these teens come to church! Now, I don't think we have much of a problem with teens and young adults dressing inappropriately since there are really strong programs for the youth and young adults - Youth L.I.V.E. (Living In View of Eternity) and Crossover Singles.

Also, our focus is to be on God... not on what our neighbor is wearing.

Misguided.

'utang na loob' while these girls are delectable in the sights of men, they only incite the veins of the Members of Adam.

Seriously, while generally Evangelical and Catholic churches do not have dresscodes, the parishioners must not go to churches as if they will go to a party. They are not required to wear in a beautiful Sunday dress, if they dont have or they can't afford, but at least, shoes, sandals, modest pants, shirt or poloshirts, or slacks or below the knee skirts with low-heels, are simple outfit that are acceptable to places of worship.

Remember you are there to worship not to do ramp-modelling.

Peace. Malapit na ang simbang gabi, I guess wearing mini-skirts and sandos wont do you any good in a 4am mass right? Well, it means, they really want to show off...now let me stay outside the church with them...hehehe.

Are you sure, the settings is in the church? You might be referring to swimming party or a ballroom party. Ha-ha! You shouldn't be seeing people wearing skimpy outfit in the church in the first place. Very inappropriate!

peace be with you.

correction. it's not only beautiful girls who are wearing skimpy outfits in the church but the young and old alike. they are responsible for their actions and the people (men) who are looking and keep on looking and still keep on looking, are the ones that failed and succumb to temptation. this is very common occurence so men in general should know how to stay focus and keep their thoughts pure in this kind of public display. hmmmppp.

hmmmppp.

I've heard this type of question 100 times. Like, "what do you think about a girl who flashes you", or girls who strip in public. My answer is simple:

I would never ask a consenting adult woman to do anything she felt uncomfortable with. But, if she wishes to strip down, and show her body--May God Bless her. Women know church is not the place for sexy clothes, but perhaps she had no choice. Or perhap she is desperate for attention and seeks it in the one place she knows she will stand out. In any case, when I see this, whether I like it or not. I simply ask God to Bless them.

Distraction.

We can still decide to transfer to other places in the Church to avoid such distractions. Or you can tell yourself to resist looking at them and offer is as a sacrifice being offered to Him. It is like avoiding venial sins at all cost. As if there is no difference from mortal and venial sin.

Peace.

The church has already issued a proper dress code both for men and women when attending mass.
