My mom has waaay too much crap. She is not as bad as the Clean House or Oprah hoarders but only because her house is smaller and she has this delusion that if things are stacked neatly (even if the stacks are, literally, to the ceiling, things aren't too bad). But she does have the same mindset- that some day she will need 20 year old receipts and 20 year old shoes stuffed in the bottom of the closet. She will fight tooth and nail if you want to get rid of anything- even broken stuff!

The other major contributor to the problem, like the Oprah hoarder, is that she shops for CRAP every single day. She does not let one day go by without going, at least, dollar store "shopping". YET, she still expects presenetS.

What do I get her crazy butt? And, no, she will not abide maid service or an organizer person or anything else that requires someone to come into her house. Help.

i can not talk as a woman, yet as a guy who's in large structure, been out of highschool for a 12 months, dated a woman for 7 months and am nonetheless a virgin, I have a concept of what you're feeling. i wager I basically attempt to suppress those thoughts and tell myself i will ultimately discover someone. My lady friend (especially a lot ex now) that I dated for 7 months cheated on me some circumstances, she all started eating an excellent style of alcohol, and clubbing. That made me experience like crap, because i have self belief like i'm lacking out and he or she's having the exciting i can not. Oh nicely, sturdy success, i'm particular you'll discover someone.

A good trip to the psychiatrist. That's bad! My father in law is the same way, and I have to keep my husband from turning into that all the time. It's a battle, and one that really costs relationships.
Don't get her anything. If she expects gifts, that is way too selfish and self centered. But, if you feel guilty about getting her things, then I would get her a gift card from a grocery store. That way, she has to buy food, not crap... and that's the only thing that she uses up and gets rid of.

I have one of those Mom's too! I can totally relate. I have this issue every year. She honestly doesn't need another thing and I feel like I am contributing to her illness when I buy her things!

I usually do one of two things:

1 - Practical things that she doesn't want but needs
She tends to buy junk so I will buy her something practical that will last... A new Microwave, A Dyson Vacuum

2 - I also go the "Service" route.....Things like tickets to a play or musical, a massage, membership to the museum.

Good luck! I feel for you....they aren't easy!!!!!!

Send Her on a mini vacation, like they do on the reality shows, but here's the hitch. When she's away. you and your siblings or friends get a truck, pile everything on the truck, and take it to the dump. When she gets back, tell her the place was robbed. If she goes, and starts the replace the losses, at least it will be an empty house to start with.
Just think, only 20 years, till it's back to her liking !
For Christmas, buy a deadbolt lock, so they won't break in again ! HaHaHaHa!!!

There is a store called "The Container Store" that has tons of nice things for organization. I've linked it below. Get a gift from there.

What you call crap maybe treasure to her. Unless she wants help , is buying herself into financial problems or her house is a fire hazard I would just get her something nice for Christmas and let her be.

Take her out to a restaurant for a festive meal. (From what you've described, I seriously don't think she needs any 'things'.)
