Is his tragedy self-inflicted or is it beyond his control?
othello isnt the easiest play to explain. can any of you guys help please?
these are the only other questions left that i couldnt find solid answers for:
"What ideas about love are expressed by Othello and Desdemona? What images of the sexual bond emerge in the speech and actions of Roderigo, Iago, and Emilia?

"What judgment does Shakespeare's Othello make about jealousy? About the power of evil over goodness?

Can Othello's "act be interpreted as a sacrifice as he murders Desdemona to save her from dishonor. Does he want the act of murder to be dispassionate and rational? Explain.

"At the end of the play, Iago says that he will never speak again. Offer at least two explanations for this refusal"

if anyone can make sence of this i will greatly appreciate it! 8)

In the sense of clssic tragedy, Othello is a tragic figure, destroyed by his own fault (Jealousy) and the murder of Desdemona is indeed a sacrifice, perhaps to save her,he wants the murder to be dispassionate, but he is unable to escape himself, he sacrifices his love for honor and in so doing loses honor and is destroyed by his own fault. Now you do the rest of your homework.

I could accept as true with the 1st answer; Othello did not kill Desdemona because of the fact he enjoyed her, yet because of the fact he became ate up with jealousy. Honour of course performed a component in this too. in case you prefer to p.c.. something that's variety of 'available' you're able to desire to evaluate Iago's sexuality. He seems to be doing this to Othello for the mere sake of it. definite, i comprehend he SAYS that's because of the fact Othello has slept along with his spouse - yet as readers we don't comprehend if this is actual. by way of the play there's a feeling that Iago is stringing the reader alongside as properly because of the fact the characters. The perverse 'bridal ceremony' in Act 3 Scene 4 sees Iago say to Othello: 'i'm your own continuously.' would desire to Iago's love for Othello be the rigidity at the back of Iago's ambition? so which you're able to desire to ask: 'Is Iago's love the reason of Othello's fall?' yet another element you're able to desire to evaluate is that Othello did not see any evidence of this affair; it became all on the observe of Iago. So in this play wisdom - or the lack of ability of it - seems to be an significant subject. Othello's selections are not in accordance with wisdom, yet on what he would not comprehend for helpful. so which you're able to desire to ask: 'How does wisdom impression Othello's strikes?' wish this facilitates.
