Sit down and have a discussion with the twins. Both you and your husband need to be present for it and you need him to give you 100% support. Give them examples of things that you feel disrespected in. Let them know that you and their dad will start taking away privilages if their attitudes don't change. Let them know you want to have fun with them... have girls nights.. go shopping and what not... but you're not in their lives to just be their friend.... you're their mother and if they wanted to be treated with respect and given privilages then they need to honor you rightly so. :)

Take it from me I'm 13 too and I listen to my dad more because he's more intimadating. But the thing is don't be so strict and just be a little more stern, because when they get sick or don't feel good they are gonna come to you not your husband because you are more comforting and he's ,more of the law down the law type of person. If you just tell them that they should respect you just as they do their dad in a nice way they probably will do it. They might not know they are doing it so if you tell them they'll most likley stop. I hope it gets better.

You better get a hold of them now cause the next step is the pole and you know how the "film" industry Loooooves twins.
Thirteen year olds love their friends, love the phone, love their music, clothes, whatever ... take it from them until they show some respect.

of course, the problem is that the girls are looking for a masculine inspiration and you maybe don,t give them that.
you know my mother use to tell my sisters, find a good husband and be a good house wife.
in the world today still men rules so your daughters want a leader masculine to feel secure.
you can try to see through the eyes of the world today not how you were educated.

Let him be the disciplinarian. Follow his lead and if they question any of your rules, say, 'This is what your dad and I have decided.' Make sure you and your husband agree about discipline issues. Once your twins know they are dealing with one set of rules, they will have to respect what you tell them. And stick to it. Don't show weakness.

Why? If you want their respect you need to earn it. You apparently have been their rug to wipe their feet. Well you need to get off the floor and fulfill your duty as a parent. Take back control of your kids.

maybe you should be a little stricter and let them know that your in charge as well as the father. if you show them that your too nice or let them do whatever they want with no consequences they'll walk all over you

Try non verbal gestures.
I work as a substitute in a school. They kids kind of get out of control. So I found that using non verbal gestures works pretty well.
I am not sure what goes on in your home. I bet you can think of non verbal ways to get their attention. (no abuse physically)

You have to teach them that you are not always the nice parent. I know this because i'm a kid myself and its true, i act crazyer around my mom, but since she got a little harder on us, i dont act as much anymore.
