An IP Address is an Internet Protocol address. It is used with the Internet Protocol Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). An IP address is a 32 bit value (basically four numbers separated by periods with each number between 0-255) that uniquely identifies a computer. This address is needed to do anything online.
