I"m trying to lift up my car and i'm not really sure where to place the jack stands. There are holes along the frame and control arm that might work. But i'm not sure and don't want to bend the frame or damage anything. The owners manuel only says to use the pinch weld for lifting. But nothing about jack stands.

I use to manage bodyshops and our frame racks were all set up to clamp onto the pinchweld when pulling out damage to the unibody, so yes, you can put jack stands under the pinchweld...it is one of the strongest points on the car as long as it is not heavily rusted. I am referring to the rib along the inner edge of the bottom of the rocker panel where the outer rocker panel and the floor are spot welded together. The pinchweld that makes up this rib is actually three parts of the body welded together...the outer rocker panel, the inner rocker panel or reinforcement and the floor. Make sure to center the jack stands under this pinchweld and keep the height to a minimum to prevent it from being tippy. Place a spare tire or blocks of wood under it as well as a precaution.

Some cars have lifting jacks that are designed to fit onto the pinch weld. However, These are not suitable places to put jack or axle stands. You need to use a stronger point than the pinch weld. If possible place a small length of wood over the tops of the jack stands as this will spread the weight of the car over the wood and minimise any damage that you could cause if you use the wrong area to place the stands..
