I clean the bathrooms at my job and I noticed this all the time. Are they too lazy or self conscious about touching the used tampons or maxi pads?

i only use tampons so flush them, my 13yr old uses pads. I provide her with scented bags to pop the used pad in before it goes in the bin, she takes a couple of bags with her to school as well so she can put the used pad in before popping it into the sanitary bin. The bags are very cheap and even environmentally friendly.........
People may not like touching their own used pad/tampon but why the hell should a cleaner be expected to deal with it cos someone is such a woose over their own bodily functions... would these same people leave crap stained toilet tissue lying around too???

I had used to throw my pads away without wrapping until one woman told me it was disgusting. I never realized that earlier. After the incident, I keep wrapping my pads/tampons all the time. However, I used to work as a maintenance person and clean trash before. I would never be disgusted by what's inside trash - because cleaning people use gloves - very thick rubber gloves. Certain moldy or rotten foods as well as band-aides look just as gross and smell the worst, but nobody ever covers them! People throw away tons of poop from baby diapers and never separately cover them up to prevent nasty smell. I cleaned all that and never complained. If you are a maintenance person, you need to realize that you can't expect garbage to be pretty looking like roses. Beside that, what crazy person would deliberately gaze into the contents of the trash? Why would anyone look into the trash????? If the trash is there and it smells bad - I will never go and look inside there to make sure I get to see something ugly? I do wrap my pads and all, but not because I think it's disgusting. I do it for the same reason as when I cover up my nipples/breasts in public. Men can expose their sexy-as-hell nipples and chests and arouse me and no problem. But for a woman - that becomes a vulgar immoral thing just because it's womanly thing........ Same thing with blood. I bet you if a man bleeds a lot from injury, puts a napkin on his bloody cut, wait until it soaks the blood, and then throw away the used bloody napkin - he won't ever try to cover it up. Well, supposedly a blood from a man is not "nasty", it's only when comes from a woman - it becomes "nasty".........SO, YES I WILL ALWAYS WRAP MY PADS - but NEVER because it's nasty. I simply do it for cultural reasons. I guarantee, if men had a natural body process like menstruation coming from their penises - it would never be considered gross.

I think it's gross not to. I wrap them all the time. Some women don't like touching things like that but for the most part women get over the blood and all that. You have to when you deal with it so much. I guess some women think once the pad or tampon is in the trash bag then it's okay and no one will have to handle it, only the bag.

There are some trashy no class people in this world. My mother was a proper lady and she taught me proper things and one of them was to wrap your pads and tampons in plenty of toilet paper before throwing them away. Only someone that is barely above an animal would leave that exposed for someone else to have to clean it up. Makes me wonder what their home looks like.
For all us real ladies out here, I'm sorry you have to deal with that. Rest assured if I came to your work It would be different.

I feel for you, buddy. When I was a teenager I worked at a campground one summer with a few other guys and we had to clean the bathrooms. They had low flow toilets and were not allowed to flush tampons and pads so there was a "goody box" in each of the women's stalls. Course the fun part was chasing Scotty around with the used tampoons.

people are saying they dont like touching them but how fair is it to cleaners? would you like touching somebody elses tampon or pad?? ew i wouldnt plus thats gross!! even if you dont have the wrapper then use toilet paper!!
come on guys you may be self conscious or sensitive but that is no reason for being gross. you dont want some body hearing you wrap it? too bad its not something to be ashamed about, at least your not being nasty about

I always do this. I have never understood people that don't. Even if you don't have the wrapper, there is toliet paper there to wrap it in. I wouldn't want to see someone's poopy toliet paper in the trash can, so I know they don't want to see my bloody pad. LOL!

I don't know, but I was taught to and cannot understand why someone wouldn't. That's kinda like not flushing the toilet and just leaving stuff floating around. Don't wanna see it people!
