At the moment, I am in my first semester of college and I am seriously considering the path of Radiology. However I do not know what steps I would take to complete this.

As a second thought, however, I don't quite know the difference.

Do you want to be a doctor or an x-ray tech?

A radiologist is a doctor who gets a 4 year bachelors degree, then goes through 4 years of medical school and 4-5 years of residency. They specialize in the interpretation of medical images such as MR scans, CT scans, radiographs, nuclear medicine scans, mammograms and sonograms. They are specially trained to identify injury and disease in each of the body's systems, whether bone, tissue, organs or blood vessels. Radiologists may specialize in fields such as neuroradiology, angiography, cardiovascular-interventional radiology, pediatric radiology or nuclear medicine.

A radiologic technologist is the x-ray tech. Some attend two-year programs based in hospitals, earning a certificate when they graduate. Other students enroll in two-year programs at community colleges or technical schools, earning an associate degree. And others choose to attend four-year programs at universities and colleges, graduating with a bachelor's degree. Radiographers use diagnostic imaging equipment to produce images of the tissue, organs, bones and vessels of the body. Some radiographers specialize in mammography, computed tomography (CT scans), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or other types of imaging.
