Bala sharks are tropical schooling fish and I wouldn't recommend housing them in a coldwater setup. They also grow quite large, reaching lengths of a foot or more. The same can be said of your goldfish. Your 2 inch goldfish are still just babies. They will be closer to a footlong when they are adults. I hope you're planning to put them in a large aquarium or pond as they grow older.

Edit to add:
Even in a temporary situation, this simply wouldn't work out because these are two entirely different types of fish with very different needs.

Why would you only be keeping a fish for 3-6 months?

No they are not compatible.Gold fish are cold water,Bala sharks are warm water. Both get very large,Bala's average 15 inches when adults, goldfish as adults average between 12 and 24 inches depending on the species. So,you need a very large tank to keep either of them, but never keep them together.

Just think, even though your goldfish are due to grow even larger, if you house them with the sharks it may stem their growth permanently if you know what I mean......
