Most universities seem to have about 1-1/2 years worth of core classes. The fact is that most universities won't take community college transfers until they have completed at least a year, and preferably two, of work.

It will definatly take longer than a semester. It shouldn't take more than two years at the most if you take a full load of classes. If you don't want to wait that long, take the subjects you have the most difficulty with at community college. The classes tend to be smaller and often easier that a 4 year university.
